Wildlife and Landscape Art
Wildlife and the landscape of Lincolnshire and Norfolk are my main source of inspiration. The Lincolnshire Wash is a rich source of subject matter, especially when birds overwinter there with large flocks of Pink-footed and Brent geese a common sight. Ducks move in large and small parties, especially at sunrise and sunset. Swirling flocks of waders make a mesmerising sight against the large skies and the sounds of Curlew, Redshank and Oystercatcher to name a few make it a magical place. Birds of prey can be seen, especially on the sea bank and marshes including Buzzard, Sparrow-hawk (who often lands on the hedge next to my kitchen widow), Marsh Harrier, Hen Harrier and Kite with Barn, Tawny and Short Eared Owls making regular appearances.
Deer, once rarely seen around the wash area are now common. Roe, Fallow and muntjac are abundant but Sika, Red and Water deer are seen occasionally.
